The Timing of Events in the Tradition of Vedic Astrology

Vedic astrology was traditionally used quite extensively for timing events: marriages, starting businesses, the establishing of India as a separate state from Pakistan, etc. The idea is this: astrology in itself doesn’t have power. However, it is a symbol system that accurately reflects what happens or what can happen. So working with this symbol system allows people with awareness to benefit from auspicious beginnings.
The timing of marriages or the signings of any contracts or large purchases is complicated. You have to take into account your chart and where all the planets are and what houses they aspect, and the other person’s chart, and the chart of the day you are considering and its planets in transit.
However, for those interested in being more in tune with the planets, there are two rules of thumb that can make the timing of things easier. First, don’t schedule a new beginning on the day of a celestial event like a solstice, an eclipse, a full moon, or a new moon. These days are spiritual days for reflection, introspection, retreats, or meditation.
The second rule is to pay attention to the moon and make sure it is not afflicted: it is not aspected by Saturn or Mars, it is not in the 3rd, 6th, 8th, or 12th house, and it is not isolated.
Let me know in the comments if you have experience with this, or if you have any questions.
Until next time, Sherif
