Planetary Yogas

ree

Did you know that astrology has yogas? The word yoga means ‘union’ and certain planetary combinations are called yoga because of the way the planets unify with each other in conjunction (planets in the same sign or house) or by aspect.

Remember the post where I described houses? If the Ascendant is in Gemini then Gemini becomes the first house from the Ascendant. If the moon is in Leo then Leo becomes the first house from the moon. And so on. One planetary yoga is called Raja Yoga, or great person’s yoga. This happens when a planet on an angle (1st, 4th, 7th, or 10th house) combines with a planet on a trine (1st, 5th, or 9th house). This kind of a yoga elevates the person’s position in life.

Other types of combinations from the Ascendant are Dhana Yoga for financial gain, Aristha yoga for health issues, Gaja Kesari Yoga for presenting well to the public, and Kema Druma Yoga for feeling unsupported.

There is a special class of moon yogas (counted from the moon) called Maha Purusha Yogas. If Mars is involved it creates courage and leadership, when Mercury is involved it creates a finetuned intellect, if Jupiter is involved it creates a teacher or advisor. Venus creates artistry or compassion for healing, and Saturn creates organizational skills and managers.

This is just one more way your chart can provide insight on your karma and your blueprint for this life.

Until next time, Sherif
